Further screening studies of new agents against sarcoma 180 in mice.

The cancer chemotherapy laboratory has been active since 1952. It now functions as an integrated unit with joint services and collaboration of a chemical synthesis division under Dr. Kloetzel and pharmacological supervi sion under Dr. Thienes. The progress of the laboratory is greatly facilitated by the close collaboration and support obtained from a number of drug and pharmaceutical houses, especially The Upjohn Company, G. D. Searle and Co., and the National Drug Company. More than 2,800 new compounds and biologi cals have been tested to date and approximately 100 new agents are studied monthly. About 50 new agents of consistent antitumor activity mostly in the "Intermediate" category, have been uncovered. Some of these are listed in the accompanying report. Others are still being studied and results are not yet ready for publication. In previous reports to this Supplement we have listed 768 new com pounds (1,2).
